Outside Drain Covers for access main line
Read below
Clean-outs that are located outside in landscapes or yards are IMPORTANT to have and not cover up. Cleaning out sewer lines from outside is almost always a huge plus, unless you are experiencing an inside main line clog. Cleaning a sewer line from outside keeps the mess their instead of in your home. We suggest if you have an exterior drain clean-out to perform maintenance on that drain before winter. Sewer lines that get routine maintenance last longer then drain lines that get neglected. Sewer Drain lines that are neglected will eventually have more issues then ones that are kept up. Neglected lines will have excavation needs sooner then they should. Maintain your sewer line annually each year before winter. You’ll be happy you do.
If you forget to maintain your sewer line before winter chances are that the fitting will freeze shut. If not able to open then the cleaning will take place inside. Don’t try and open from outside unless you know what your doing. By not having the experience you could move the line further down the line and be forced to dig and re-due the pipe.
Hiawatha Plumbing has been cleaning sewer lines since 1947. Working on many different types of lines we understand the procedure that means to take place.
Give Hiawatha Plumbing a chance next time your sewer line backs up in your home or commercial building.

Plumbing layout
All plumbing needs to properly be vented to work and at it’s finest. Sewer systems before city sewer was installed was on private septic tanks. The picture above shows you that it was basically a huge whole with a some kind of container to hold and contain all of the debris. Over time when pipes inside the septic tank fell or broke all plumbers did to repair the issue was feed a new pipe threw the septic system instead of removing septic tank itself.
Septic tanks are very heavy and there’s no need to dispose of them.
Next time you discover a back up in your basement call Hiawatha Plumbing. Weather there’s water on your basement floor or not so nice smelling stuff call Hiawatha Plumbing and will take care of you and get you draining again.
Most houses have roots and need cleaning once a year.

Why do we have Vents?
We see vents all over for plumbing, pools, houses, cars, and much more. Pipes need to be vented properly so that drains will drain properly. Also, vents let gases that form within your home to exit the property so you don’t get nasty odors. Smells are hard to locate and get rid. If your experiencing a sewage, rotten eggs or any smell call Hiawatha Plumbing today.
If you smell gas call your local gas company or 911

Winter plumbing check list?
Make sure before the winter months and the ground freezes you mark where all your drain clean outs in your yard are. You never know when that unexpected drain clog will happen. Don’t forget to mark the clean outs before it’s to late. If you don’t have any outside clean outs make sure you drain your outside exterior sillcocks/hose bibs. If they freeze and break they will need to be replaced in the Spring.

Camera Sewer Line
Scoping your sewer line will tell you an entire story. Twenty years ago we never had video camera capabilities.
Putting a camera down your sewer line once cleaned will show us what’s going on and why you clog up. We always suggest cleaning your drain pipe with a professional company before we camera. Cleaning your own sewer line doesn’t count. The rented machines are not like the professional machines. A homeowner can’t clean a sewer line like an experience technician who does this work for a living day in and day out. Our company does drain cleaning and scoping a picture of your pipe. Before cameras we had to guess where to dig. Most the time we pin pointed the spot within three feet. Now a days we can pin point the exact first spot to dig with the technology of the camera and locator. Make sure you trust the company you hire before making any dramatic decision.
Call Hiawatha Plumbing for any plumbing drain sewer cleaning needs. Let us help you clean your line and camera it. Were the trusted company since 1947.
